Sunday June 28th, 1998 8:00am After bunking barely 6 hours I roused myself out of bed. First glimpse of the light streaming through my blinds indicated that today would be a beautiful day. If only the humidity stayed down it had all the ear marks of a perfect hashing day and it did not disappoint. The first few hours of my day were marked with last minute tidying up for the hash which ended at my place.

Sunday June 28th, 1998 10:00am
It was around this time that Foxy Lady showed up. She was to be my assistant this time round. Truth be known I decided the locale of the trail she gave all the truly good points to it. We made our way out to set the trail not to long after this. We made our way to the end of the street and we started laying trail. I asked her to determine the safety of the start of the trail which was in the Turcot Yards that start with a steep cliff at the end of Girouard. She thought it was a great start so we put a checkpoint in, which BTW ended with us getting a down-down for being able to see the car park from here. We laid a few false trails and were off we made our way down by James Lyne High School. Past the Gadbois arena and alongside the Lachine canal, over the canal through the old industrial park of Cote Saint Paul...

Through the St-Remi tunnel along St-Amboise (Good thing this was a Sunday with all these Saints around) to Atwater Market. We ended up deleting part of our trail because of safety reasons. Foxy didn't think one part of the trail should come out blindly between two rail way tracks one of which was abandoned the other of which was frequently used even on Sundays.

Did she ever have good forethought here. At the Atwater market we put a Hash Hold for a Water Break. Then we ran the trail through Saint Henri with another potential water stop and a fountain to do "Singing In the Rain" in... A little further along the trail we included a built in shower... Back to Chez moi... Just in time for the Hash...

And they were off our first checkpoint worked beautifully we had hashers running here and there. Without having to give any further instructions they found the trail between some shrubbery that led to the first an most treacherous part of the trail the cliff. We lost two hasher immediately to this daunting task as it proved too much for the to even try. I offered a safe paved passage to the next checkpoint, sorry to say but the decided not to continue with the trail not even 5 minutes old. The hashers took caution to reach Pullman at the bottom of the cliff in the Turcot Yards.

Checkpoint 2 we nabbed them again they fanned out to try and pick up the trail... They ran South under some railway track on De Carillon street to Notre-Dame a little west and again a checkpoint that would lead them through a parking lot at Gadbois arena and to Cote St-Paul street along side the Lachine Canal across the old lock #4 to Saint Patrick street.

Checkpoint 4 took them to the old industrial park of Cote St-Paul ,rue Cabot. They located a check back that had a sneaky element of the trail starting a good distance from the real trail marker. Prior Fuck Up found the real trail by passing 6 trail markers before he spotted the first one heading into the St-Remi tunnel. This brought the pack up to St-Amboise we ran right past McCauslen Breweries ahh the sweet smell of fermenting beer. Further along St-Amboise they looped back up to alongside the Lachine Canal but it was an abandoned road, it was here that Foxy and I while laying the trail spotted a dead cat, Not a single hasher saw it sadly not even Dead Animal. Remember that part of the trail we deleted? Well it was a good thing because a fast moving freight train was rolling by at that time. Not flattened hashers thanks to Foxy's forethought. It provided a great reason to stop running for 5 minutes we sat in the shade and the pack regrouped while we waited.

Atwater Market, the official half way point and Hash Hold. We took a water stop here I led many of the hashers to the water fountain located inside the Atwater Market. Air Conditioning, Water, Bathrooms, Fruits and Veggies, Bread all that their disposal. This was the first time for many to have gone to the Atwater Market most were very impressed. Again the nice thing about the Hash Hold is it kept the group together. From here the trip home was actually very simple. Though I missed it there were those who stopped under the shower (Water cascading down from the expressway where they are hosing it down for repairs the water was clean) to sing "Singing In the Rain"

One last hill and we were home free and ON-ON to beer.

With the hash completed hashers could stop have one of many refreshing drinks that were provided by my girlfriend and I as well as beer... We had our down-downs outside in the back yard. The daughter of the downstairs neighbour thought we were nuts. With the down-downs over and the songs completed we all enjoyed some BBQed hot dogs and called it a day. Time 4:30pm

All in all a very successful run with many commenting on the "GREAT TRAIL" I'm sorry so many regulars missed it as I'm sure they would have really enjoyed the trail too. Interestingly enough there were 6 men an 9 women...

I received the interim hashing name of Blowjob for my part of having entertained the guests with balloon animals. Everyone favorite was the alligator wish. Sadly the fall out of this great run is that I have endured a week on extreme pain to both of my feet due to soft tissue damage. Along with a regime of ice packs, ibuprofen, staying off the feet, I will need sports arches for running in future. Thanks once again to everyone for coming, and to Sheila for all here help setting the trail (They say we make a good team)
